There are a couple of ways to start a slideshow in PowerPoint.

Start from the Menu / Ribbon or Using Shortcut Keys

These work on earlier versions of PowerPoint too, although it may look slightly different to the screenshots below.

Start from the Menu / Ribbon

Step 1
Click on Slideshow Tab

Step 2a
Click From Beginning
in Slideshow Tab

Or Step 2b

This will start the slideshow from the first slide, regardless of which slide you have selected in the main window

Step 2b
Click From Current Slide
in Slideshow Tab

This will start the slideshow from the current slide you have selected in the main window

Using Shortcut Keys

Option 1
Press Function Key 5

or

This will start the slideshow from the first slide, regardless of which slide you have selected in the main window

NB: This has the same effect as clicking From Beginning in Slideshow Tab

Option 2
Press Shift + Function Key 5

+ or on some keyboards the word shift replaces the arrow +

This will start the slideshow from the first slide, regardless of which slide you have selected in the main window

NB: This has the same effect as clicking From Beginning in Slideshow Tab
